What kinds of volunteer roles are available?

We’ve got a variety of hands-on and behind-the-scenes opportunities:
🐾 Dog Care: walking, socialization, basic training reinforcement, kennel cleaning, enrichment toy prep
🐾 Farm Animal Care: feeding & watering sheep, goats & chickens; mucking stalls; pasture maintenance
🐾 Facility & Grounds: fence repairs, general landscaping, workshop projects
🐾 Community & Admin Support: photography, office filing, social media help

Do I need previous animal-handling experience?

Not at all! We welcome absolute beginners. All volunteers undergo a short on-site orientation covering safe handling, animal body-language cues, and our day-to-day routines. Experienced volunteers and staff will shadow you until you feel comfortable.

Is there an age requirement?

Volunteers must be 16 and older, unless working alongside a parent/guardian the entire time.

What should I wear and bring?

Clothing: Closed-toe shoes or boots, long pants, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
Extras: A refillable water bottle, sunscreen, and insect repellent. We supply gloves, boots, and all cleaning/disinfecting gear.

Can I volunteer with my own dog or other pets?

For insurance and safety reasons, outside pets aren’t allowed for volunteers. Introducing a visitor’s pet can stress either our animals or yours, or even expose them to unfamiliar germs. If you’re interested in fostering or adoption, we’ll coordinate a time and place for animals to meet.

Can I just come to meet the animals without volunteering?

Yes! We offer individual and small group tours. Contact us to make arrangements.

Can I show up anytime?

Please fill out the Contact Form to schedule a time. Be sure to include the best days of the week and time of day in your message.
